Relationship Skills Class

Classes will be held every Thursday evening (unless noted otherwise) at Notionfront.

The most important practice for us as Christians is that we love one another, and cultivate healthy relationships. Yet we often spend very little time cultivating relationship skills. We just assume everyone knows how to do that and we just need to try harder. What is more, we don't understand that many of these skills cannot just be taught, but were meant to be caught. Many of us never had these skills molded and practiced in our homes, so this class is designed to help us build our relational capacities and skills.

The class will have some focused teaching to introduce each topic but the majority of the time we'll focus on each interaction and exercises, developing greater skills and habits. We will be working on such things as: returning to peace after strong emotions, repairing relationship ruptures, developing belonging, sensing overwhelm, creating joy in relationships, finding relationship traps, understanding others, quieting, listening prayer, developing empathy, and more.

It will all be presented from a Biblical perspective with fresh insights into what is going on in our physical brain as well.

It will be following the book: Transforming Fellowship: 19 Brain Skills That Build Joyful Community, by Chris M. Coursey. Based on the work of Jim Wilder, a Christian Counselor with over 40 years of experience.
